Fear the Walking Dead boss Ian Goldberg has teased an untold crossover story with a major Walking Dead character.
Speaking during a TWDUniverse live stream on Twitch, the showrunner revealed the fourth episode of Fear’s fifth season featured the Easter egg of Daniel Salazar (Rubén Blades) brandishing a Dona Maria brand cigar.
The same brand cigar was smoked by murdered US Army sergeant Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) in the original show, with Daniel informing Strand (Colman Domingo) that he was gifted the cigar by a friend to smoke “when things get better”.
So, did Daniel and Abraham secretly crossover?
According to Goldberg, it’s a possibility – though it’s not yet clear where in the complex TWD timeline that story would have occurred.
He also revealed that there will be “more Easter eggs” to come in Fear that could “live elsewhere in the universe.
“The Easter egg follows a previous clue linking Abraham to Fear the Walking Dead’s Althea (Maggie Grace).
At one point in time, the video journalist was in possession of a tape labelled Abe/Doctor – surely referencing Abraham and his alleged doctor sidekick Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt).
Currently, Scott Gimple and AMC are developing anthology spin-off series Tales of the Walking Dead, which will hopefully provide some answers.
